Reason Established:
Established as an organizational unit of Texas A&M University under the auspices of the Vice President for Research to study how regional emissions from major urban areas, large power plants, woodlands, the ocean, and the largest petroeum refinin activities in the world, affect environmental sustainability in Texas. The center is part of a consortium, composed of The University of Houston, The University of Texas, and Texas A&M University to address air quality issues.
