Originally established as the Institute of Developmental Biology by President Williams. Name change approved in 1992. Provides state-of-the-art equipment and services to the research and teaching community of Texas A&M through its component laboratories, the Gene Technologies Laboratory, Biological Imaging Laboratory, and the Rice Botechnology Laboratory. The IDMB hosts researchers from other institutions interested in developmental and molecular biology, especially related to transgenic rice, and the role of chromatin in gene expression and gene silencing.
