Reason Established: Established in 1981 as an organizational unit within the College of Geosciences. GERG was named a university center by the Texas A&M Board of Regents in 1987. It has a staff of more than 30 research scientists, managers, professionals, technicians, graduate students, and student workers with a broad range of experience and expertise in geochemistry, oceanography, environmental/analytical chemistry, atmospheric sciences, marine chemistry, marine biology, physical oceanography, and other environmental fields.
